Sketching from Life Classes

These Sketching from Life classes will help you to develop and reinforce sketching and drawing skills. You’ll learn to sketch confidently and creatively with the tools I will share with you. We will work from life, sketching objects in front of us. These classes will get you on your way to capably express yourself when sketching a drawing.

Sketching at the Fruita Community Center 

Teens Sketching from Life with Cedar Keshet  A hands-on drawing class for teens

If you've ever wanted to get better at drawing but didn't know where to start – this is it.

Sketching from Life is a four-class series built just for teens (ages 13-17). who want to level up their sketching skills and learn how to draw with more confidence.

Led by local artist Cedar Keshet, you'll work with real objects in front of you, learning techniques that make your sketches more accurate and expressive. Each session dives into practical tools and easy-to follow methods that help take the guesswork out of drawing. It's not about perfection-it's about seeing more clearly, practicing intentionally, and having fun while you do it.

We'll meet every Tuesday from 1-3:00 p.m..

July 8-29, at the Fruita Community Center.

The full four-week course is $150, with space for 6 to 10 participants so everyone gets the help they need.

Sketching from Life, adults 18 and older

If you've ever wanted to develop your drawing skills—or simply reconnect with the joy of sketching - Sketching from Life offers a welcoming path forward. Designed for adults ages 18 and older this weekly class builds a strong foundation by focusing on real observation: you'll be drawing objects placed directly in front of you, learning how to translate form, shadow, and dimension into expressive sketches.

Through guided lessons, Cedar Keshet shares tools and techniques that boost confidence, refine your ability to see like an artist and help you express ideas clearly on paper. Whether you're brand new to sketching or returning to a long-lost creative practice, this class gives you the tools and space to explore.

When: Four (4) Tuesday mornings, June 3, 10, 17 & 24

10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
